You're so right in asking about where you can find this type of information! Because the Smart Grid concept is relatively new and also highly complex it's not so simple to produce all the information immediately. Smart Grid certification and rating systems are really important because you need ways of measuring output, input, safety, efficiency and performance. At the IEC, in SG 3 we're working on all these aspects with our international standardization work, and a Smart Grid certification process is part of the overall picture.

The IEC SG 3 is a strategic group set up to provide advice on the fast-moving ideas and technologies linked to the Smart Grid that are likely to form the basis for the new International Standards of the future. There is a special zone on the IEC website http://www.iec.ch/zone/smartgrid/ where you can find all sorts of pertinent information. We plan on updating this information substantially in the next couple of months so you should keep looking.
