Harwich International Port flies to turbine heights

Believe it or not, this futuristic impression of turbines growing in the sea is a picture taken on 28 April from the office of the General Manager Real Estate Development of Hutchison Ports (UK) Limited who own Harwich International Port, one of the UK’s leading multi-purpose freight and passenger ports.

The unusual cargo is part of the logistics chain for the construction of the Gunfleet Sands windfarm and its future as a source of sustainable energy in Britain.

The windfarm will consist of 48 Siemens 3.6 MW turbines which are to be taken out to sea, six complete turbines at a time, on the Titan 2, for a final combined total power of 172 MW.

Interesting picture, thanks for the share Philippa. When is the Gunfleet sands windfarm due for completion?
