New Energy combined of Biomass Pellt and Stirling Engine

Shinichi Nishidate on May 21, 2008 | 2676 Views | 2 Comments

About 5 years ago I could have a chance to study stirling engine and I met one test model of it as our new certification enterprise. I could find a miniature starling engine in my association and I have it under my desk now. About 10 or more years ago one association had challenged the development of stirling engine which was supported by Ministry of Economic, Trade and Industry (METI). METI project had broken up.

Two weeks ago I have visited a company which is going to import wood pellet burning appliances from EU area, and I met some imported wood pellet burning appliances which are good design, having fail-safe device fully and also having mark of CE and a certification body. And I had great joy, because especially their thermal efficiency are above 84%, it is portent. So I recognized some important points and reasons due to their construction and quality of material etc. I had satisfied their quality, and on the way to returning my office, I had one idea to utilize the thermal heat of burner top board for activating starling engine which has high stability temperature and is made from a kind of catalyst ceramic. And cooling of thermal media will be utilized by returning water of water radiator or outdoor thermal exchanger. If this system is brought to realization, we are able to use thermal biomass energy more and more efficient, not only thermal but also electricity just like CHP fuel cell.

Today I researched respect to the stirling engine by Yahoo pages, I found a stirling engine manufacturer in United States, (see below URL)  http://www.infiniacorp.com/people/index.php

I would like to introduce this information to wattwatt members, and I hope new idea just like stirling engine development come true. And we shall have IEC standardization for new revolutional appliances, and also we must spread safety, high quality and high efficiency article of manufacture for  consumer to stop warming climate and to change our world.

Thanks Shinichi, I appreciate the information about stirling engines & biomass.  While I've heard lots of buzz about them, I haven't encountered many people who understand them like you do!  Very much enjoy your posts, keep them coming.

Thanks Kristen, I am glad receiving your comment.

There are some ploblems to develop stirling engines.

I hear that especialy it is difficult to keep it's accurecy  and to have low cost for mass production of stirling engines, so sometimes we hear the good news of new developed stirling engine but it is only prote type and did't proceed to mass production.

But this Infinia has a 1000 field testing plan this year, and Infinia's stirling engines use soler heat power, it is epoch-making and also they have a plan to use biomass energy.
